Finally got my page added to Google, but in order to find it you have to type it in as one word...it won't find it if you seperate it.

For example, if you type in webhostingtalk it would find it, but not "web hosting talk"

How do I fix this, resubmit the site and change the heading (wording in the blue part of the screen)?

Depending on what your actual site name is, it can take ages or even never. Your best bet is to improve your SEO.

Google should help you accomplish that. There is a lot of work and iffy stuff involved with SEO.

part of the problem with SEO is nobody really knows exactly how they do it.

Well, don't be discouraged. It just takes time. Google found your site name as one word, but that's the first step. Now you need to post original and fresh updated content so that Google and the other engines will keep visiting and finding new things to index.

Over time, you'll begin to see people finding you via search queries.

Some tips to get you started:

1. Get listed on Dmoz
2. Use relevant alt tags.
3. Use h1, h2, h3 tags. Get some of your keywords in to these.
4. Manually submit your site to some free directories. Select the category which best suits your site. Try to get your site on a page with good PageRank.
5. Use your keywords while linking to your site.
6. Don't go for directories which ask for reciprocal links. Unless of course your site link is put on a high PR page.

It depends on the setup of your site. For me, I was getting updated daily onto google, the secret is to use Google Sitemaps. You create an XML file listing your main pages, with a marker to suggest how often google take a peek at them.

There's plenty of plugins and tools for generating these XML Sitemaps, so use google and find one, then point it at your site. Sign up with Google Sitemaps, plug in your xml file and off you go.

Now, to make sure google's getting the right name for your site make sure all your header information is correct, <title> tags obviously but also your meta tag info. When you search with google, ensure you put speech marks around your site name "The best site ever", especially if your site name contains popular or common words.

I know some of that is fairly obvious, but one has to cover the basics. If that doesn't work, then we'd need to have a look at your site to be able to figure out what's going on.

Just use an online tool... while they probably won't get every page, they do a good enough job of getting Googlebot to your site so it can work its magic

Quintox, Google sitemaps will only help you in getting your pages indexed. They won't improve the search results or page rank.

Note that using this protocol will not influence the way your pages are ranked by Google.

My suggestion is to start with on page optimizations. That is, alt, meta, h1, h2 tags.

Maybe try http://www.google.com/webmasters/ ? I doubt it will get you indexed better but it will show you how often you're indexed..

Everyone knows that you get a better ranking when high ranked sites link to you, but linking to relevant(to your content) sites will also improve your rank. If a visitor is going to leave your site, you want them to leave vie one of your links, not go back to the search engine(they track that).
