good dedicated host for an active vbulletin forum

hello, i'm in reference to a very active vbulletin forum.

we're currently hosted with godaddy (i know) on their virtual dedicated plan

Quote:
Preconfigured Economy Plan:
• 10GB disk space • 500GB bandwidth
• Linux: CentOS 4
• Simple Control Panel
• FREE! SSL Certificate, a $19.99 value!
• FREE! $25 Google® AdWords® credit* 1 month, just $29.99/mo

6 months, just $29.99/mo
12 months, just $25.49/mo SAVE 15%
24 months, just $23.99/mo SAVE 20%
the preformance is sub-par at best, with random 404s, blank pages, etc.

is this a fault of godaddy, or the hosting, or what should we do?

can the server itself be tweaked, should we jump ship?

my experience with dedicated servers is minimal, but with all sorts of other hosting i usually know what i'm doing.

Well it's obvious the VPS you're on isn't allocating you the RAM you need to keep your forum running smoothly. You'll definitely want to upgrade from your current package.

Why dont you go with other vps company?
i have a vbulletin forum with 3,100 Threads 46,664 Posts, over 5500 members,4.000.000 hits / month, 50.000 unigue visitors/month,350 max users online and with buyavps goes very very stable without a problem!
If you have minimal experience of dedicated servers(as i had in the start) you could go with a full managed plan!
Also you search the forum for another experience with other good vps companies!
I dont think you must go with a dedicated box.
Alex

Edit : How much ram you have?(guaranteed)
I use about 80-200mb but a have a very light control panel(lxadmin) which uses about 30-70mb only!

You need a better server, I would get a nice managed server from someone like SteadFast.net.
