NetDepot
Yahoo!! Finally the great deal of the year has arrived, according a cool banner I just saw in WHT!! NetDepot is offering as bonus a Sata 250GB for backup for new orders and this Gnax is known (an famous) because really rocks, according a lot of it's customers reported. But we never rented a box in NetDepot and we are curious with only one detail: finally which version of Plesk this company offers? We just entered it's order page and encountered not complete info about this CP and if there have Powerpack (complete, with all modules enabled). If any NetDepot representative is in WHT, like some members other important companies like iWeb etc I thanks in advance for any complete info on this issue!!

You should try contacting NetDepot directly. They will probably give you a quicker response than here on WHT. However, I believe most providers are now using Plesk 8, with Plesk 7 being gradually phased out.

As of May 1st, 2007, SWsoft will no longer patch, troubleshoot, or answer support issues related to Plesk 7.0 for Linux, Plesk 7.0 for Windows, Plesk 7.1 for Linux, or earlier versions. It is strongly recommended that if you are still operating a system with any of these releases or legacy versions of the Plesk software that you upgrade to Plesk 8.1 for Linux/UNIX or Plesk 8.1 for Windows.

I mailed Netdepot about their special routing technique (yesterday), didnt receive a reply yet though.

Great idea, but we have did it 15 days ago when we are seeking for a fine box for one of our VIP valued customers, and we never received any reply. It is just because this problem we posted today in WHT this inquiry, just when we saw the NetDepot banner.

We are using the latest Plesk version in all servers we are running based in Linux distros: Plesk 8.1.1 updated. I personally wrote an extensive review on this version of Plesk and it is available on macarlohost.net. Then we consider very important the info on Plesk we post here as follows: Plesk has improved it's control panel at the state-of-te-art maximum level we saw since it's first version we used since the today deceased and buried Feature Price, in Fort Lauderdale. With this new version all Plesk users running Linux can reboot the server secure and quickly by the Plesk button in the <Server> option (available at left frame - now this frame can be hidden by a click of mouse just like Netscape sidebar!!). Then, Plesk users running latest release simply wants not remote port for reboot (usually costs $ 20 USD/month like in Managemybox.com or it is for free in some providers like Corenetworks.net). The Plesk user cannot want request reboots from support opening tickets!! Just click the Reboot button and you are done!! But note: DOES NOT click the Shutdown button or your server goes down and a physical reboot will be wanted. At this time we are evaluating some real dedis (not VPS/VDS), including one from ZipServers ordered with a WHT coupon and all of them are rebooting just fine by Plesk reboot. The average media for returning is around 1minute 05 seconds.
Best of luck using Plesk, folks!!!

A software reboot is in NO WAY an alternative for a remote reboot port. They are both meant to be used in completely different situations. Its something completely different.

Yes, it is true, but we are solving all problems with software reboot because we choose only premium hardware, no generic RAM modules etc etc. We update everynight the OS we are using and we purge it daily, then we encounter not fatal situations requesting physical reboots, only if a disaster occurs, but we have good luck...If you have not Plesk you must have to do a # reboot -f by SSH (try it and report us the result you obtain...)

Plesk has had the reboot option via its UI for some time. Personaly in my experience Plesk is a solid CP when you get it setup and don't touch it again, however the last 3 years I've been running them its always hit or miss with whether their patches completely fubar a server during a minor or major upgrade causing me to migrate sites off to a clean server.
Compare that to the no-frills DirectAdmin CP that just plain works and patches 24/7 365 days a year.

Plesk is not for server management, Plesk is just a tool to help you maintain your websites. You will need to use SSH on your box anyway, just to keep it up to date.

I have the exact same experience. Works stable, but when upgrading (In my case from 7.5 or 7.6 to 8.0) things often go terribly wrong. I had to do this move on two boxes, both needed a completely new plesk install to work again.

Yeah, Direct Admin for me is a jewel but Plesk have not problems if it's install is correct and that it is the secret:
