Emergency server administration
In a lot of the threads, the use of Blackberry devices and mobile phones with qwerty keypads are mentioned for emergency response. Some even use SSH to remotely restart a particular daemon/service and such.
My question: Is anyone using the devices mentioned above with say some form of KVMoIP to troubleshoot a server entirely (remote reboots and such), or do they simply have there provider do it via email (effective, but not entirely helpful sometimes).

I've found that I can handle most tasks quickly with a Pocket PC. Between a web browser for accessing the remote reboot port, and an SSH client for accessing the serial console, most tasks can be done without needing access to a full computer.

Yup. I have a Treo 700p that I use to login via SSH or access the remote reboot interface. There are even little apps for the treo to securely store root passwords, and there are loads of VPN clients for it. A few providers now have WAP interfaces for their client portals, Softlayer being one of them. While I haven't been able to try it, those who have say it works very well.

These run on windows mobile platforms correct? To open a can of worms, I'm too much of a zealot and won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

I haven't touched a Windows machine in over two years now
I have a Treo 650 that I use for VPN and SSH. Works like a charm!

I use pssh, which has always worked great for me. I found a pretty neat list of Treo apps here, if you're interested.

Enjoy. I find that it resets my Treo now and again, but hell..what doesn't?
It's really useful - look for the hidden tabs, pipes, and control keys under the menus at the top.

PuTTy has a ssh client for Windows Mobile. I can't remember what I use, but it's more stable than the PuTTy one, but costs $20 one time I believe.
You can find a ton of things on sites like Handango. Or just do a search.
