Wierd issue with PHP

Hello,

Yesterday i have upgraded PHP 4.4.6 to 5.x ,then checked all my scripts/pages and everything was fine.

Today i have upgraded MySQL 4 to 5 and recompiled PHP and scripts are working fine but all my Russian langauge pages are broken,i mean plain php pages ,not those that depends on scripts.

Its wierd, when i am opening them in Firefox they are opening with Win1251 encoding as supposed but when i am opening them in IE they are opening with KOI8 encoding and i have to manualy change teh encoding to Win1251 to view the pages.
This has been confirmed by other users.

Any ideas as of what could result in such a straneg behaviour ?

1. Did you upgrade correctly, incorrect installation of PHP or MySQL could also cause these type of problems.

2. Find for Spywares , Trojans and viruses with your antivirus solution.

3. The Most common would be some type of malcious code sitting in your server and causing trouble for users when they are viewing your page using IE, the format is being changed.

Look for it too friend.

This happened to me as well (for Hebrew pages). I moved from a server with mySQL 4 (or 3 - can't remember) to a new server that has mySQL 5. When I imported the data to the new database, it seems that I didn't correctly define the char set in the new database. It took me quite a bit of playing around to fix it. I had to:
- export the data to a SQL text file as update statements
- used Visual Studio to save the SQL statements in another char set (UTF-8)
- changed the char set in the database
- imported the SQL statements which updated the appropriate tables with the corrected (correct char set) data

This was painful and caused quite a few complaints from my subscribers. Not only did it take me some time to figure out what was wrong, but it took me a lot of time to actually perform the correction.

I have fixed this issue,no spyware or something like that, the problem was in php config.

The new php has a default_charset enabled, that was causing this. In
previous versions of PHP this was disabled by default in the php.ini

Hey - thanks for pointing this out. I didn't run into this problem, but this is good to know. Glad to hear you got it worked out.
