Cheapest flight I've found!
I was just searching through some flights and I found a flight for just over £600 from Manchester Airport to Chicago O'Hare. It departs the day before HostingCon (22nd) and leaves Chicago the day after (26th).
£600 isn't far off from being 50% of the price of the previous cheapest flight that I had found.
It's with Aer Lingus, and connects in Dublin both ways.

I just thought I would share that, in case anybody else is going from Northern England.
Of course, if you have a cheaper flight in mind, I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks Stephen.
I can't believe I only just found out about Air Lingus' low fares. I was just looking at flights from Manchester to JFK and Dubai. Dirt cheap! The reviews of the airline all seem quite positive too.

600 pounds? That sounds like a lot. When I fly to Chicago from Amsterdam it usually lands at heathrow and then on to Chicago, and I usually pay less than that (unless if it's business class of course).
I don't have any details available here though, but when I find anything I'll post it here.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything cheaper than that for that time of year, Apoc. I could be wrong, but everything else I have seen has been between £750 and £1200.
Flight prices tend to differ alot from Heathrow and other airports in the south to those in the North of England. It isn't great news for us Northerners, but that's life.

Funny you should mention that, David... The plan as it stands right now is to spend a couple nights in downtown Toronto before heading to Chicago.
I'm planning to fly with Zoom Airlines which have flights at approx the same price as CanadianAffair/Thomson (That's who CanadianAffair use I think). I found out about CA last year, but I admit I haven't checked their prices for the the 20th July, which is when I'm planning to fly in to Toronto. I'll check now. Thanks for reminding me!

Jamie,
If you're in town we should definitely have another little Toronto get- TOgether.
Be sure to shoot me a message if it's finalized I'll make some arrangements.

Surpringly, the Zoom Airlines flight is around $120 (USD) cheaper than CA on the 20th July. That suits me fine, because I know that last time I used Zoom the service was fantastic, and I only paid an extra $60 for an exit row seat which allowed me to stretch out with room to spare... I had it better than the fools who paid twice as much as me for premium class.
PM is about to be sent to you, David.

Going off topic a bit I'll be in Toronto from Sunday, not much planned so far apart from tickets to the baseball on Tuesday night.
Nice to know about that Airline though as it's likely I'll be back in Toronto at some point in the future to visit someone again.

Sounds great, Steve. Be sure to check our Centre Island, the CN Tower et al. Niagara Falls isn't too far away. I'm disappointed I didn't go to the falls last time I went. I probably won't get chance to go this time either.

I'm Lincolnshire so equal distance to Manchester or Heathrow, but I really don't want a layover on what is already a long flight. If you want cheap though, fly to NYC and pickup a cheap AmericaWest flight from there. Expedia et al doesn't look at flights like this but its definitely cheaper.

I booked our flights at a Travel Expo in Australia (Melbourne) it happens every year in February, perfect for planning our years worth of flights. You have to book and pay on that day, and there are no changes.
But I got flights for 2 of our guys from London to Chicago direct with United for under £500 each!
I also got flights from Melbourne to LA, with stopover for a few days in LA, then on to Chicago, and then back to Melbourne for under £600 each. (Air Newzealand) - thats nearly half price
Complete bargains

Well you are flying from Manchester Airport. Try a real airport like gatwick and you will get a seat well under that!

You mean the Gatwick that is at the other end of the country, has more expensive flights to Chicago (Last time I looked) and would cost me £150 just to get to and from there via train? I'd drive, but I don't have anybody willing to drive me five hours there and five hours back from Yorkshire.
