IMAP for personal email account

Greetings,

I want to register a personal domain name, that I will hopefully use as a personal website about myself (bio-data / resume). But more importantly for me to have a personal email.

Moreover, I would like to access my email via IMAP, instead of pop3. Can anyone recommend a good webhost for this? Hopefully one that is reliable and not too expensive

Regards,
Chris

Kriz, there are many fairly stable providers out there with IMAP support. Typically any provider running on linux (and most on windows) will have IMAP. I'd suggest looking for a provider using one of the following panels: cpanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, or Hsphere (helm for Windows I believe has IMAP bundled in as well). Naturally be sure you do some research on the provider before just signing up with anyone blindfolded (as there are many hosts coming and going nearly all the time).

Best of luck in your search

I'd suggest going with an e-mail provider like tuffmail.com, fastmail.fm, and webmail.us. Since e-mail is their primary business, you'll get better e-mail service and features than you will with a web host.

I think he will need more than an email provider, a cpanel account is good and you could find many reliable provider

I'm a big fan of IMAP myself.

I recommend it to my customers instead of POP3.

Also the imap() function in php comes in very handy in some scripts I've designed.

As SeriousServers said, almost all servers have IMAP running.

I used Runbox for many moons. All they do is email and they have some pretty interesting features like file storage and domain support. I think they're something like $50 a year US.

@JohnMarky - totally agree. I use ChatterEmail with my Treo and I never miss anything between home/work/road.
