Is there a really good registrar that anyone could recommend to me?
I currently do everything (hosting and registration) through DreamHost, but they charge 9.95 per year and I was looking for something cheaper.
They've never failed me though, so I was wondering if saving a few dollars was worth it.
Anyone?

For saving a few dollars PER YEAR? DEFINITELY NO!

You should definitely be separating your registration and hosting. NameCheap are a good option at $8.88 but with a coupon code, it goes down to $7.98.

For domain registration, I've been GoDaddy but now I mostly use namcheap.com . Altho I've no problem with both, I felt namecheap.com support is more personalize and prompt.. But thats just me =)

LOL So is mine. For this application, it is a good list, though. More important than any savings, is possible need to separate the host from the registrar.

It gets shorter as i get more and more disgusted with the domain business :-) Those are two i flat out reccommend, I also don't mind:
www.dynadot.com ( i don't think they like me )
www.domainit.com
www.directi.com / www.resellerclub.com
I get good pricing from dotster but it annoys me that you have to "buy" (at no cost) domain locking...

For years we have seen episode after episode of hosts denying access to a customer's domain name if the customer decides to move their hosting to another provider. Often the customer wakes up and finds out that the domain is actually registered in the Host's name and not the customer's. At that point, you realize that for a few pennies or even just a few extra minutes a year, you just lost your entire business!
Always register your domain names at a reputable registrar (NameCheap.com, Name.com, etc. etc.) ... But, always, always, always, keep your hosting provider separate from your domain name registration provider.
Always!

I would not recommend GoDaddy. Before considering this registrar, simply do a search here - or possibly click at a sig here. LOL

I've been using UKREG.COM for the last couple of years, but they've stopped answering emails in the last 10 days or so. Nice & cheap, you get great flexibility with your domains and how you handle them. But the worrying bit is, they are not responding. And I've just noticed I am only 2 years late in responding to this post!
Wahey!
