zdwebhosting,

We do have redundancy, our primary is CogentCo/Epik, and the backup is Level 3.
Which I wish InterServ-JB did not post the IP, now our firewall is getting hit.

The CogentCo/epik and Level 3 networks are isolated, running on different equipment so if one fails, the other will not be affected.

We are doing some upgrades this morning (AV, stats program, etc.), and will be doing some more in a few hours, so the server will be intermittent this morning when we are rebooting and/or stopping services.

Your welcome to do a traceroute from http://www.traceroute.org/#USA, but the last step will timeout.

If you would like an IP to PING or traceroute please e-mail me at dkeefer@serveroutsource.net or via PM.

Epik is a backup to Cogent in a lot of places but it's an agreement Cogent has made themselves on THEIR side.... so if Cogent is having a problem at the entry point to the DC then it's still down.. Epik doesn't do anything at that point. Is that how your Cogent/Epik connection works?

Are the IP's that are assigned for these machines direct from Cogent?

Terry,

HP does not have a demo available at the current time.

They do have some guides at: http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport...Tfile=lpn10172

Robin,

No, that is not how our network is setup.
I have never heard anything about CogentCo having any deal with Epik.

This was not a network failure, if you read the post I made earlier.

All of our new IP's are direct from CogentCo, that are located on that network.

Cogent does agreements with other providers... I just usually see Epik in the mix with Cogent and was curious.

If the IP's are Cogent IP's how can the server start using another provider if Cogent goes down?

InterServ-JB,

I know ot is pretty easy, but for some reason every time we posted an IP for people to do traces to, it always gets hit.

rastoma,

I'm not the network person.

But they are ARIN issued blocks that are being used, and a yearly fee is paid for them.
