End of July - WHY?

The first hostingcon was in June, which was good. Why is the conference being held at the end of July now? That's really in the middle of the summer, a time which I'd rather spend on vacation.

We're coming either way, I'm just really wondering why the conference isn't being held before or after the summer.

There are a few reasons. Part of it is scheduling around other events and holidays... June is tricky because of Microsoft TechEd and Father's Day. ISPCON Spring is held in May. School starts towards the end of August... the middle to end of July seems to be the time that is most open when the weather is warm.

School starting at the end of August, why does that make a difference

I understand there are reasons to do it in July this year, but I really hope you can consider to do it in months other then July and August next year. I think doing a poll (either here at WHT, or at this year's event) could be a good idea.

I can tell you that it will be held in July again next year. We're already contracted for space and hotels for next year. We scheduled the show based on a number of factors including other events that attendees may be attending and also events that our exhibitors and sponsors are involved with. We also need to be mindful of the fact that our speakers may be speaking at other events as well. What time of year would you prefer it to be?

That'll be one heck of a trip then, should be fun

It's too bad to hear it can't be rescheduled to some other time for 2008, maybe for 2009 it can be. I don't really have a specific preference as long as it's just not in July or August.

Apparently it does. It would be awesome if you could have it in Hawaii or Los Angeles, make it worth our while, bring the whole family.

All in one Special, Hosting Con + Vacation = Bunch of happy campers

Hostingcon is not family friendly,
You need to be at least 21 for anything fun

You don't have to take your family to HostingCon. Arrive say 3 days before HostingCon starts, have a nice vacation, then let your family go to the beach or something while you go to HostingCon.

I'm pretty sure most people in this business don't have 3 days to blow... either that or I'm doing something wrong. I barely have time to go to the bathroom these days.

I haven't made it to either of the previous HostingCons but I'm planning to go this year... even though my wife is due with our third child on August 1.... guess I've found time for some things.
