    * Wow this is Great Network Performance for the past 3 days by Nocster

I am a tad bit upset right now , becuase I been having network issues with my server and well it's day 3 of this eye sore of a saga

3 days ago I noticed my sites were slow and I thought well it's just a small network problem and it should be fixed tommorow , so I goto bed cause I never had any issues before this point.

Day #2 still same old high ping , slow loading , packet loss etc . So I submit a support ticket after I see it's not my isp and other people complaining about slow response times etc.

Today (day 3 ) I check email , no response after 15+ hrs , so I click on the link to view the ticket ..It's magically disappeared I contact support via AIM and ask about it and there reply was : "i do not have anything in the system under that ticket ID number" so I try to brief him on what's going on so someone can take a look and I sit there and sit, and sit some more , NO response I understand tickets get lost but the total lack of response by the IM tech is what really pushed my over the edge on patience.

I think I have more than a legit complaint since everything before my server is 60 ms before it hit's the server and here are some examples :

This is NOT a network problem...all traceroutes are fine to other parts of the NOCSTER network...so this is specific to your machine.
I'll have this looked into for you ASAP.

I have a similar problem Sean and I'm in the Burst network... which is funny by the way my IP takes the same route as Douglas's but he pays a third of what I am

Anyway some customers haven't been able to reach their sites for 2 days now. Also an AIM tech stopped responding to my questions.. the first time I was told:

    Session Start (AIM - virtualnet37421:burstnet): Wed Jul 03 11:19:54 2002
    Virtualnet37421: hello?
Virtualnet37421: customers are reporting a downed node and extremely slow loading pages on my server there
    Virtualnet37421: mostly at: 152.63.39.213
burstnet: it is being worked on.....we have already found the server causing the problem
    Virtualnet37421: ok.. good.
    Virtualnet37421: eta?
    burstnet: any minute

an hour and half later customers are still having problems.. and now I'm told it's cause my server is low on resources is the reason customers are hitting a dead hop two away from my server ????????????

    Session Start (AIM - virtualnet37421:burstnet): Wed Jul 03 12:47:45 2002
Virtualnet37421: most of my customers are still down... how long is this problem going to take to get finished?
burstnet: what is your server IP
    Virtualnet37421: 66.96.214.180
burstnet: it could also be that you have less than 3MB free in RAM
burstnet: i will have the server rebooted for you
Virtualnet37421: let me see if ican telnet in a reboot
    burstnet: ok
Virtualnet37421: that wouldn't explain the node that is unaccessible that is 2 hops from my machine though
    Virtualnet37421: it's not affecting everyone...
Virtualnet37421: sites on that servers are super fast for me
Virtualnet37421: there's 34 meg physical free with 497meg swap free
    Virtualnet37421: is it fixed?
burstnet: are you still having the problem?
Virtualnet37421: yes.. i just rebooted the server....
Virtualnet37421: but some customers are still hitting a node that is down two hops away from the server

After that last comment I made to the AIM tech I sat there over 20 mins without a reply back.

I then submitted a ticket to support and sysadmin both yesterday.... still waiting on an answer.

rastoma , same type of response I got too .

I mean it's great that sean offered to have someone look into it a.s.a.p but that was what 2+ hrs ago and still no update

btw I dont have the basic nocster plan , I have lots of upgrades and pay a pretty nice price for the service.

Well I am more than pissed right now , by some virtue of god I got tired of waiting for almost 6 hrs now , with no updates on my problems So I decided what the heck I will reboot the server Amazing it fixed my problem I would love to hear the excuse on why this wasn't attempted several hours ago ? It's pretty sad I had to fix my own problem when someone was suposed to be looking into this a.s.a.p almost 6 hrs ago.

Sorry if I sound harsh but it's my birthday and I been wasting my day away waiting for some kind of update and I just love how I was ignored with my polite request on AIM for a update on the situation several times.

I wouldn't have recommended any technical support staff reboot your system without your priori consent. Reboots should be a last resort in any setup, and we never reboot customers servers unless requested by the customer, and they specifically demand a reboot. Nobody likes to loose uptime (as pathetic as that sounds, i know i dont). The question you should be asking yourself is why did rebooting the server fix the problem, i mean surely there was another way around it, and it's most likely a short term solution, which you shouldn't be employing often.

Thats just my $0.02 at least.

I agree 100% porcupine but after 3 days with this problem , lost support tickets that magically disappeared , a promise that it was being looked into a.s.a.p 6 hrs previous by a staff member , Being Ignored by AIM support staff . I would love to know why rebooting fixed the problem , it's a big mystery to me right now

Obviously something in the network occured that required this. I am not sure what it was, but I also had the exact same problem that was fixed by a reboot. I find it hard to believe that there were no changes/hiccups in the network.

    Whats up Burst?

Oh well, at least they know what can solve it next time so they can investigate it without fear of not being able to fix it at a deadline. Only thing i hate about rebooting is you remove 90% of your evidence by doing so .

Yeah I fixed it this time , but what about next time ?

I guess I need to ask myself do I really want to risk a next time ?

The kinda service I recieved this time , is why Burst and Nocster get that bad press ..if they intend to shake this image then why do they keep this destructive trend of not taking care of there clients needs? I have clients just like I am a client of Nocster and I expect to recieve the kinda service I provide to my customers.

Maybe my expectations are just to high
