bad experience with moniker

hey guys, i've been lurking around, and after reading all the fairly positive reviews on moniker, i decided to register my domain with them.

however, while trying to register the domain, there was an error with my credit card, which had a msg saying that they would resolve it within 24-48 hours. i tried again a few more times, but still failed, so i sent an email to support. that was 2 days ago.

today, my friend tried to register for me using his card instead, directly through moniker, and found that the domain was taken! by belgiumdomain no less, and it's now full of links.

note that all times, i was trying to register directly off moniker's site, so if there's any domain grabbing involved, it probably came from moniker. be careful guys. just thought i'd share my experience.

hmmm, are you sure you did not whois the domain in any free whois websites out there?

my advise keep trying to register it in the coming 5 days they might release it when they see there is 0 visits/hits on the page

just make sure you/your friend does not visit the page during this period

having read the numerous posts on domain grabbing, i was careful to register directly at moniker, since i was quite confident that my domain wasn't taken. at the very least, it would tell me if the domain was taken during my registration. i did not whois the domain anywhere else.

yeah, now i'm hoping they release it in a few days time.

This (tasting) is a very likely culprit, with some good advice to follow.

Unfortunately a lot of popularly-used registrars are likely going to continue having
this problem. I sympathize with the OP for having had credit card problems occur
during that time and later find the domain name taken.

On the side, it's indeed nice if Moniker finally used a ticket system.

Not good - this is another separate issue. Please let us know how it plays out.
