At http://www.webhosting.com/pages/dedicated/control.shtml webhosting.com describes their control panel for dedicated servers... It seems an awful lot like Webmin. Is that what they're offering?

The last item on the list of features is "Additional Dedicated UNIX Control Panel users"... Is that a client control panel integrated into Webmin? If so, is that available somewhere as a Webmin module?

Thanks for any info.
Rehan

I also think its WebMin and its possible that you can open some WebMin Moduls for your Customers please look here:

http://webadmin.sourceforge.net/webmin/standard.html

... Webmin Users | acl.wbm | Create Webmin users and configure which modules and features they are allowed to access. | All operating systems.

Absolutely. We setup MySQL on a seperate server running webmin, and for control panel access we just create a webmin account that only has access to that database.

Works great for us, and our customers really like it.

Aha! I looked around a little bit more and found out how to limit access to specific databases, domains, etc. I had thought that users would have full access to any modules assigned to them. But obviously that can be changed.

Neat...so this is a pretty powerful control panel for end users as well.

Thanks very much for the pointers in the right direction.

Rehan,

Can you throw more light on how exactly you restricted users in webmin to just manage a particular domain , etc etc

I cannot figure out where it is. I use webmin for my box with rackspace. R.s provide no end user control panel , i would like to give some more control to my users.

Email me directly if you wish

Here are the steps...

1) Create a new Webmin user, and assign which modules the user is allowed to access (that's done on the same page where you choose username/password, etc. for the new user)

2) After the user is created, go back to the user list where you'll see the user listed with the modules that you selected.

3) Click on any of the module names for that user -- Apache Webserver, for example.

4) At this point, the options are based on the module you choose. For Apache, you can select things such as which virtual servers the user can edit. For the BIND module, you can select which domains the user can edit.

That's basically all there is to it...

Good luck.
