That is why we call it "Cogent XP (Cogent eXPerience) as it is not at all comparable to the "normal Cogent" available. Check our SLA for this.

"Normal" dedicated offers per GB traffic are launched soon (in ~10 days). They will come with 300GB and 500GB bandwith and be Yipes/Aleron/CogentXP BGP routed with APC port. We will offer Athon XPs and Pentium4.

IP you can ping and/or ARIN WhoIs: 209.213.202.168

Yes we gladly accept PayPal

Please explain what a normal Cogent connection is? There is one Cogent period. Your Cogent line is no different than anyone else's Cogent line so how can it be different?

I did a traceroute to your IP provided, 209.213.202.168, and it shows up all paths taken go through Yipes instead of Cogent. Is this pure Cogent-only bandwidth of multihomed with other providers?

Arrow Response

@rastoma: Yes it is different indeed. For example did we have 100% confirmed uptime in the last 3 months and also do those "long tracerts" (>800ms) not occur for us. This is because we are directly connected to a Cogent POP (which cost us a fortune in fiber btw). In order to back this statement up we give our 99.9% SLA for "CogentXP", something we would/could NEVER do with "normal" Cogent.

@ck: Clocker asked for a IP of our multihomed connection where the "per GB" offers will be in in ~10 days.
A pingable CogentXP IP will be available in the next 48-72 hours. We are working overtime in the colo atm installing the switches and other stuff, then we have to do intensive testing.

Can you please point me to where these other Cogent connections have >800ms pings/traces are that you're talking about?

You don't understand. I believe and experienced that Cogent is quite good everywhere. Some people on this board f.e. are talking about 1500 pings and "hours of downtime" ... not me. Cogent has been VERY good to me; read my reply in the disussion thread about Cogent going on atm in Discussion Forums...

Plesk, ensim or cpanel included? If not, what are the monthly charges with this offer?

Thanks in advance. It does look like an attractive deal.

We don't offer control panels. We are specialized on servers and focus only on this. That's why we have such a variety of products

WE DO however install all available CPs for free for our clients

Sharefile... I'm trying to understand this "CogentXP" you talk about..

You say "This is because we are directly connected to a Cogent POP (which cost us a fortune in fiber btw)."

But that’s what everyone does, no matter what provider you use. You get a local loop which is a strand of fiber from your building to whichever providers pop (point of presence) that you want to get to....

So to take your statement in the technical terms you rented a local loop from someone to go from your building to a pop that cogent is located at, and then cogent gave you a 100mbit or 1000mbit drop to your fiber at which you located a router or other piece of equipment to merge the two....

So the only difference between you and someone else is that sometimes people locate in a building where cogent already is, which means cogent (or someone else) paid to have the loop run. I'm just trying to figure out what makes it special since you really haven't done anything special....
