Help me to choose a good dedicated server

Hello, as you can see it's my first post on this site so .

I'm looking for a good dedicated server for my network sites. I host my sites (with over 100.000 UV/day) now on multiple shared hosting plans, and sometimes i get "The page cannot be diplayed" or i use more than 20% of CPU ...

So i have to move all of my sites (>20) on a dedicated server. My pages are *.php static pages with some querys to mysql server. No streaming or video files, just articles (text and images) + autor name and article title from dadabase.

Figure probably around $100 - $150 for the server and management.
I'm new in admin a server so i need a full managed server (server and management from the same company).

So i'm open to any suggestions what shoud i choose Athlon vs Intel? Speed? CPU? HDD?, and because i'm new i have some questions:

If i get a managed dedicated server, this means :
1. the hosting company take care of averything like (installing Cpanel, Mysal, Php, Stats, Security, Config)? Or i have to take care of all?

Thanks ... (sorry for my English)

Hi, welcome to WHT

I would go with Intel not sure why lol have just always preferred them but saying that i have never had an althon server. I would say the Intels are more powerful, no doubt there will be an AMD lover come and shoot me down

The server company will manage cPanel, security etc unless you choose an unmanaged dedicated server.

Hi and welcome to wht

i would recommend buying a intel based server, there are alot off reliable web hosting compaines here on wht that offer dedicated server's. for your budget you have listed you should pick up a server with great specs' eg:

intel dual core 2.8
160gb drive
1200 gb bandwidth
2gb ram
cpanel / whm
cent os
fully managed

if your looking fully managed server the host will take care off anything you need done from securing the server to installing cpanel, but before choosing make sure you read there terms and conditions and find out what it covers.

I prefer Intel based servers and for 100k UV/day I suggest a single xeon I run one with Light HTTPD and it flys for one large clubbing community I host (Apache killed the site!) Just my 5 cents hope it helps
