I am wanting to start a Game Server Hosting Company but I don't know what to do
I know I have to rent a Dedicated Server but after that I am lost. I'm hoping that some of you here will be able to Help me =]
1. How do you run Game Servers on a NEW Dedicated Server? (Mostly CS1.6 and CS OURCE)
2. How do you change the FPS of the server and the tick rate for the Source Servers?
Thank you!

From what i know your choosing to attempt to get into a very saturated sector of the market, have you seriously thought this through?
if you wanted to get started with source servers have a look here http://srcds.com/

Really, you do need to think this through.
Game server clients are for the most part unforgiving, and expect you to have an expert level of knowledge.
I suggest you rent a dedi, practise a bit, then think of selling a service.

not to be rude but as previously said the market is extremly over saturated. If you plan to start a company it helps to know what your doing. Obviously everyone starts somewhere but basic knowledge on game server tweaking such as changing the fps in source and

are reasons you should slow it down a bit. Have you considered trying to get a job at a already established GSP in order to build up your experiace? Also if you do decide to do this have the dedi for atleast a month and work on edit the configs and what not for servers so you get a basic idea of how it actually works before you start charging clients.

Well it's true. There's no beating about he bush regarding it.
Game server clients expect high uptime, and constant attention.
Be prepared for them to delete mystery files, not tell you or attempt to hint where they've broken the server, then scream because the server is down.
We've many many awesome gamers as clients, but some are a real difficulty to handle.
If you aren't prepared, you'll get burnt!

ukgaz i think you are underestimating this. You are attempting to start a company that’s the point. Clients expect you to know what you are doing and to pay constant attention to them unfortunately because the way the internet works you are not going to find 1 guy to do everything for you and be completely trust worthy. The best technician I ever had I found trying to order pot seeds from EU.... So if you don’t know what you are doing don’t expect to find someone who is going to help you out as much as you think.
Consider this....
Owner of coke a cola drops some money down to start his company however has no experience with the soda bottling business and has no idea what he is doing is the company going to just work out or is it going to be a flop and cause him a huge loss of money? A company is a company no matter how you look at it or how much money you are investing or what industry you are getting into... Like olly said get the dedi and practice before you try something like this. Then you say you have been through that and you still need help? So now you want to start a company? That’s not going to help you anymore.... Plain and simple rethink your idea and gain some experience in what you are doing before you start a COMPANY without any knowledge of the business or experience.

Owning and running a GSP is not easy and as they all say, way over saturated. Clients pay for expertise and knowledge in the games you host. They do not want excuses when they mess up a cfg file or the server crashes, they want it back up 5 minutes ago. Might want to get some experience under your belt before you open up shop along with a good business plan.

Yeah, the fact that i caught him and the act and fired him that secound was preety good if you ask me. It was by chance i logged onto the server at the same time he was doing it.... Just clearing that up a bit you can't predict what your staff does you can only prevent it from happening in the future and by firing him I did that what would you of done steve?

Actually, if you had a more-proper sentence structure, I could have better understood what you were trying to say.

This can be interpreted as:
1) You found him in your attempt to buy them.
2) He was trying to buy them (after taking a closer read).
So, next time you say something in those regards, phrase it like this:
I caught the best technician I ever had trying to order pot seeds from EU...

Sorry for the poor sentence structure I was in a hurry to get my statement across before other users read yours. Also I see what you are referring to with how the sentence can be interpreted in multiple ways. To clear things up I caught him in the act and fired him on the spot.

Actually, thanks for saying that. I read the sentence the same way Steve did but I didn't want to say anything.
