This Tuesday Chipmakers will fall & Webhosting will die..
http://www.dwavesys.com/
Quantum computing has arrived. How will the status quo compete with this? How will a big expensive webhost with 10,000's of sqft of datacenter space compete will Jim Bob and his single quantum server which is 1000x as powerful..

They sell what exactly? Their website tells more about their management than their products. Looks in construction to me.

Seems like a hoax. A project like this would have gained a lot more attention. or it'll be really expensive.

They'll probably do such extraordinary things as solving 1+1 or the tower of hanoi. Or, if they are really in form, some traveling salesman.
It is extremely expensive.

Nah. Web hosting is more than the square footage, it's the availability of multiple pipes, it's power backups, it's what happens when you run out of qubits and need the financial backing to buy more... chipmakers stock may fall, but we're years away from being able to understand the programming that goes into quantum computing (heck, we don't even have the THEORY yet to complete understand many things quantum) or being able to use it in the useful way.
Oh, sorry. I spoke logic. Hold on a sec.

The processors might be arriving soon, but your not going to get 1000x more sites on a server yet till everything else in the server catches up like access speed to data etc...

If I remember reading correctly, that computer which was able to do the "quantum computing" had to stored in a facility near absolute zero and had to be accessed remotely - I dont think chip makers and web hosting is going any where any time soon

Computer is so delicate that it cannot be moved. Hm...
I don't want my websites being hosted there. Not yet.

I'm in the same mind as some of the others here. We've got a long way to go before something like this really becomes a "threat." I don't think anyone is expecting hosting to be around in its current form, forever.
