Reinventing Reinvention
Some of you are aware of the Reinvention project that didn't quite go as planned.
Is anyone interested in seeing something similar take place?Last edited by SoftWareRevue; 02-08-2007 at 04:16 PM. Reason: durned typos

Yes - but rather than have the community feature rely on a small number (or even one) contributor, spread the load so that if there is a drop out or a problem, it won't ruin the whole project.

I'm very interested on seeing this take place again and this time actively participate.
Before the project starts there’s should be an evaluation of the past project to make sure the mistakes are not repeated, that should be followed by a detail planning of the project with a timeline, assignation of tasks, all created with a Project management board that can be accessible by the visitors of WHT under a Read Only Permission. That way all participants can see the progress of the project on real time, see what is late, what is pending approval etc. and give their opinion.

I say let it go. The first project was a disaster.

I certainly enjoyed the first. I believe there should be a bit more end-user interaction though. Perhaps with WHT voting on the concepts/designs to utilize

It had all of the drama of riveting reality TV. As The Donald would say, "You're Fired'.
Get rid of the forum link, it is pretty painful to read through all of that pitiful and agonizing crap, and to find that the participant was short-changed in the end? WOW!██ Ray Womack @ atOmicVPS LTD

I had a whole lot to say about the last Reinvention while the process was taking place, and I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is now.
I have some concerns about my having more in-depth involvement, and other WHT members may too. I can talk about them if they come up, but for now, I just wanted to float that ^^ out there, my willingness to step into the spot vacated by Template Monster.Studio1337___̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡.__Web Design

my vote goes NO, don't waste time stringing out a business owner and community again. Unlike soap operas I like my thrillers to have an end, this one ended sadly!

My vote is a firm "Yes!". The last one went belly up, we know that. However, I think it has to be given another chance. As much as I don't like to blatantly say it... The team will be a whole lot better this time. I don't know who that team will be (Other than Paul, who has already offered himself as project manager, and we all saw what he can bring to the table in the first Reinvention) but I would assume that whoever the team consists of, each one of those team members will have experience in delivering custom Web sites to customers on a daily basis, each one with a tight timeframe. I believe the reason the first Reinvention turned sour was because TemplateMonster did not have any experience in developing a custom Web site for a customer with a tight timeframe. This time, I would assume that won't be the case.
You try, try and try again. Then, and only then, do you stop trying.

I'd vote "yes". Why? I have firm belief that if WHT pick the right people to manage the project (think: Equentity) then it could be a roaring success.
The previous project was riddled with outside interuption. The whole TemplateMonster lawsuit probably didn't help and TM were, in my opinion, the weak link.

The project (the idea) was a good effort, but likewise, was poorly executed -
It would be cool to see this happen properly though!

I think a successfully completed Reinvention project would reflect well on the WHT community and iNet, and would obviously benefit the lucky recipient. Upon successful completion, it's a win-win situation for all parties involved, I think, and therefore, count me among the voices saying, "go for it!"
