Ditto (except my name isn't Tina ). From the way you "worded" it, you sounded like the entire place would be completely revamped in 2 months time!

Anybody game for a wager? The closest description to the new site wins a lifetime supply of chocolate (Or beer. Your choice. ).

My guess... WHT is turning in to more of a portal. Very similar to the way SitePoint is setup. The forums will still be a large part, but they will be surrounded with articles, a wiki, interviews etc. Maybe HostingTech will fade away completely and WHT will replace it? We're going all Web 2.0. At least that's what I think.

Oh no, I can't find my way around SitePoint at all. I do like their ad forums setup though, but even there everything seems to be too crowded.

SitePoint while has a design that's very easy to use and functions well, I do not like the way it is setup and still prefer WHT's setup, but sitepoint's marketplace system wouldn't be a bad idea

Equentity - Jamie's on the right track.

Everyone just think in terms of Web 2.0.

I hate to get into specifics when I don't have them. So I won't. But we will be building up and out.

The forum will always be the forum though. So, at most, you might have to update your bookmarks if you don't want to see the rest of the site.

Still 1-2 months down the pipe though

Isn't the forum doing this right now? We already have news/articles to the right with HostingTech. Now, it may not be pretty, but it does work...

I gave a month to two on the outside. It's pretty close to implementation. We're just cleaning up some design elements mostly.

What and risk alienating the army of kiddy hosts who can't spare $20.00 to post an ad?

It has its good days and bad days. I had a DDOS the other day. It wasn't too bad, and the router in my shoes filtered most of it, but still 25Gbps for a few hours was a rush. Gave me a massive headache though.

I was hoping it would be more expensive than that. The current army of bogans (pikey scum, trailer park trash etc etc..) that dominate the advertising forum is a scary bunch.

Making it cost just a little more than a months allowance might brighten the place up a bit and make it a more "usable" resource

We own our own ad server, which also randomly post ours. Adding a price here would be pointless to those who do have the means to pay.

People who have the money pay for their banner ads

Now a nice banner ad on here makes me click it right away to take a look *ohnest* I flick through the ad section and i think it should stay free because the banner ads do the major companys justice and pull in a might revenue im saure for WHT

How much exactly? I think $20 sounds fair.

Any ETA on when we are going to seeing these web 2.0 changes on the forums?
