Windows Vista Ultimate for only $8.00

Windows Vista Ultimate for only $8.00

All the effort Microsoft has put into making sure this Windows would be the most secure ever appear to be somewhat in vain. Iranian hackers, operating through a legitimate software firm, have gotten past all of Microsoft's "anti-copying tricks". These hackers claim they will sell these illegitimate copies of Windows Vista through the firm they work for at approximately $8 USD a copy. What's really interesting, though, is how they managed to give each pirated copy of Vista it's own serial number, so that they can register it through Microsoft as a legal copy of Windows Vista.

Someone at Redmound, just lost their job! LOL

This won't last long at all. MS will simply make changes to the algorithms and issue a patch that will render it pointless.

Cracks will always be out, but to think people can use fake keys to reg is insane. Do we not think MS will get a copy and reverse engineer it to find out what they changed?

In my dreams they do. Out of the 500 million people that used Microsoft Geniune Advantage. 114 million had pirated copied. That is huge number.

well thats what happens when they make their product easily crackable, and are forced to make updates available even for cracked computers in fear they would turn into millions of infected machines spamming and ddosing all over.....not that patches really fix that. In some way, microsoft benefits from everybody using windows, even pirated copies because it blocks other alternatives from emerging. It's kinda hard to compete for market shares when a good portion of the market doesn't even pay for the product.

What really happens is people simply crack it... much like they cracked OS X and all other software out there.

I'm sure MS does not want their product to be cracked... that makes no sense... if what you were saying was true, Linux would be on top... people don't pay for that. lol...

I hope they get caught. Plus, you can just go download it for free, if you want illegitimate.

hekwu, Microsoft is now the dominant player in the market. Most software/games are made for windows and it will remain that way until a product can challenge windows. The problem is what compagny will invest the billions (I think vista costed 6 billions in RD) needed to make a product if your competitor has 95% of the market shares. For microsoft, it's much more profitable to have 95% of the people using windows even if only 60% are paying for it instead of just having 60% of the market and leave the rest to the competition. Linux at the moment is no threat to microsoft. It's nowhere as easy to use as windows.

Yea I read about it, I think it was like 25% of Windows machines who tried to validate failed. I think it was posted on neowin couple of weeks ago, but they said that's still much lower number than an average software is pirated.

Some of the machines that failed are really legit.
