Help me choose- MediaLayer, Layered Tech, or SoftLayer?
Researching for a good dedicated server for my needs has proven to be excrutiating. I have read both good and very little bad on Layered Tech, MediaLayer, and SoftLayer.
I know this question is asked a lot, but being in this situation, I now I know why it is asked a lot!
I need something that will handle my joomla site and vbulletin site, as well as a bunch of simple sites that I will put up from time to time.
I will be adding photo galleries for users to create albums, and perhaps video uploads as well.
I expect the site to grow as we will be adding a lot of fresh content and would like to be with a company that is trully there for the customer and will go the extra mile.
I don't know how to do anything on servers. I can manage around cpanel, but have to rely customer support or hire someone from time to time to do Mysql and php stuff.
So, with a budget up to about $160/month, which company would you go with?
Thanks!

I'd choose Medialayer because they're a smaller company out of the other two and I believe they'd be more understanding and have more motivation to help you out. They're also a very good at what they do. Price may be an issue for a dedicated server, although I'd definitely contact them.

Layered Tech does not provide any 3rd party software support. They are entirely self-managed. If you are going to need a lot of support in that area, I would look somewhere else.

Thanks for the kind words.
colenot,
Our offerings may not compare to the other two hosts listed as they are self-managed. It comes down to whether or not you require managed services. Just wanted to clarify this point.
Thanks,

Do you have first hand experience of the three?
