I just signed up for a new account at futurehost, following some very good reviews here, but had a few signs of awareness.
1. they say are in the business since 2000, but not as futurehost.biz was registered a few months ago... "Domain Registration Date: Sat Sep 09 05:34:14 GMT 2006"
2. Registration address is a PO Box..... "Registrant Address1: PO Box 530771
Registrant City: Livonia". Is Future Hosting, LLC a "virtual" enterprise? where do they have their office? Why don't publish a real address?
3. Registration phone is FAKE "Registrant Phone Number: +1.12345678901" which is VERY BAD and ILLEGAL ......
4. Support is handled by an other domain: whbilling.com ??? who are these? Domain is registered with "whois protection". So there is no available contact. Unless they are "Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc." ... Is this a 3rd party support provider? mmmm doesn't seems to serious....
5. Futurehost.biz and whbilling.com Sites are hosted in Livonia , Michigan, but they claim their Datacenter is in Dallas ..... Why they don't use the same datacenter for their site???
6. Support tickets are signed "Hosting company" as the Kayako page title (So, they didn't have the time to setup that? aren't they aware of that?.
7. There are some other info, like they are usind someone else DNS servers, (DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM) for the two domains I checked....
This are at this time my concerns reviewing just a few pieces of info .....
I receved excelent time answer for support and sales, but the points above make me norvous.......
Futurehosting.biz is our main domain. Futurehost.biz was registered last year after there were mentions of futurehost.biz not being accessible. The contact information will be updated on the WHOIS.
Whbilling.com is our primary help desk address and was setup because we had resellers who wanted to send their customers directly to us for support. This allowed for a private label support service. This is also the reason the help desk says “Hosting Company.” As we no longer have resellers who use this service, we started pointing whbilling.com to futurehosting.biz.
Futuehost.biz and whbilling.com are both hosting on the servers in Dallas, TX. I’m not sure where you see they are hosted in Livonia. Perhaps the IP whois shows Livonia. This would be because all of our IPs are SWIP to show our contact information. The help desk, support.whbilling.com/support.futurehosting.biz are off the Dallas network in the event there is a datacenter wide issue, this still allows our customers to contact us.
Finally, the DNS servers we use are off-network to allow for failover communication in the event of a datacenter wide issue. These steps are all taken to ensure that we are always available.
I see can see at Futurehosting.biz whois "Domain Registration Date: Sun Dec 16 12:23:07 GMT 2001" Not 2000 as you stat at your site, so you still didn't answer the first point by 1 year.... Dec 16 2001, is not 2000.....
The IP info is from Whois Ifo, those IPs are 75..... but the ones in Texas are 66.... and just used a simple IP whois search.
Country IP Range: 18.104.22.168 to 22.214.171.124
Country fraud profile: Normal
City (per outside source): Livonia, Michigan
This may be inaccurate, but is the info you obtain from a whois.
I understand the DNS fail over, but ALL your domains?
Later I googled the PO Box and found it at Cpanel and SWSoft partners, so I'll trust too.
I found the ticket you were referring to. I will be the first to admit there was a breakdown in communication on our end which lead to a delayed response on your ticket. We have a guaranteed response time on tickets that we did not meet. This issue has gone far beyond our guaranteed response time.
As soon as you brought this to our attention, the shift manager reviewed your ticket and updated you. In addition, a service credit was offered from the manager, in what seems to be immediately after he reviewed the ticket, to you due to this.
Your sites are not actually down. They have not been down. I have reviewed all the tickets you submitted.
Your site which was believed to have been down was because you did not transfer your database from the old server to your VPS with us. Unfortunately, we did not assist with the transfer of the account, so I can’t comment on how this could have occurred.
Either way, we dropped the ball on the response time with your ticket. While cases like this are rare, they do happen from time to time. We train the staff to be as efficient as possible to ensure we meet our guaranteed response times.
In summary, it took 2.5 hours for us to initially look at this issue, and you were then not provided with an update for another 3.5 hours. This is unacceptable by all means and will *certainly* not happen again. The issue did take longer to diagnose, as, even though the problem was quite simple, we were diagnosing server issues and did not think to look at the actual database itself.Once again, I apologize for what transpired, and a full months' credit has already been added.

I've been with FutureHosting (what is it Vic, 3-4 months? I can't remember right now LOL)
I have had a few issues with them in the past, but I think overall they've been a good host.
Definitely better then others I've had thats for sure I was with 2 other VPS hosting providers before switching to FutureHosting, and my experience with Future Hosting has been better then either one of those..
I was going to switch to my wifes host at one time, knownhost.net
which you could probably try them if your unhappy with Future Hosting there icarus2004. I always keep them in mind myself, I just stick with Future Hosting because there less expensive. I know good quality hosting isn't cheap, but, $40-50 a month for the same plan that I'm on with Future Hosting, is a big deal, thats like double the cost per month with really only half the features, so thats why I went with Future Hosting in the beginning because of price, but they have been a good host really.
but I believe, my difficulties with my VPS currently, have more to do with Virtuozzo itself then anything else, which I don't think knownhost, or anyone else, would be any better at to tell you the truth.. I think the problems I'm having now, I'll have with any Virtuozzo provider...
I mean, I've noticed that my VPS runs out of RAM way too often.. After running the TOP command a few times, I began to notice 16 gig total, 16 gig used, almsot 0 available, for awhile, so it almsot seemed like a server overload was happening regularily to the server they have me on.
but after reading more about Virtuozzo, I dunno, I'm just not liking the whole Virtuozzo idea anymore.
I like the whole 'root access' virtual server idea, but I am starting to not like the idea about having a minimum RAM size, and maximum, when it seems like it always runs on the minimum no matter what I do, almost like the server is always overloaded woth nodes, or one particular node is using up alot of RAM, I don't know, but I'm thinking thats more of a Virtuozzo problem, the Future Hosting problem.
Future Hosting has been very helpful and patient with me from the very start, and have always addressed every issue I've had in a better then timely manner.. I've had alot of issues with my server, but as I said, I think thats more of a Virtuozzo thing then anything else
because every day I am getting these emails telling me "cpsrvd is down restarting cpsrvd" "named is down, restarting named" bla bla, and I usually get about 3-4 of them a day, every day, and all that I discovered, is because these services aren't having enough RAM to stay alive without crashing all the time, but I don't blame Future Hosting for that, as I said, I think its more of a Virtuozzo thing with cpanel then anything else..
and I've had their techs look at it several times for me, but it doesn't really help a whole lot when they do, still the emails no matter how many times they look at it, so it just makes me think its Virtuozzo related
but I mean, as far as Future Hosting as a company goes, I think there great, and would recommend them to anyone for VPS needs, and I have, many times on other forums around, and no there not paying me to say that.
