Buying Hosting Clients, what kind of package should they go on?
We have decided to buy some clients however there are some package differences.
Already offering plans, our plans don't necessarily match the bandwidth and disk space which is just waay out of this world if you want to compare this however price is comparable but I haven't been able to match it yet.
$4.95 - $9.95 - $19.95 - $29.95
$3.95 - $7.50 - $13.50 - $21.17
The prices on the top are my prices however the prices on the bottom are the prices the clients are on. Now we of course don't want to lose any money by having to downgrade the clients but we're not so sure that the new clients will want to pay more money.
If anybody could offer any advice or tips, I would really appreciate it.
Yes but the issue that may come up is the client may view the prices on our site and then complain asking why they aren't receiving that so much disk or bandwidth space.
To give you somewhat of a comparison, their highest plan of $21.17 offers 600mbs of disk space and 20gbs of bandwidth. The lowest plan offered on our site is $4.95 for 3gbs of disk space and 50gbs of bandwidth.
You have to come up with reasons for why the plans are different other than just disk space and transfer.
Their accounts receive premium/priority support, maybe a dedicated IP, etc... be creative.
If they're on different servers then you can also use that as a negotiation point. The higher disk/transfer plans are on servers that have a lot more users and they're not as powerful as the premium servers that their sites are on.
Greathosting.com - 5GB Disk, 100GB Transfer for as low as $3.16/month
I think you should keep the same prices for the current clients (maybe adjust them for the future). I can perfectly see your reasoning when thinking to change them, but it is for sure that they won't be happy.
Running the acquired hosting clients as a separate business would indeed be a good move as it would be the easiest to implement.
If you however want to integrate with your existing plans, probably give them the best matched plans. Maybe move all of them to your lowest plan at your current pricing, they will definitely be happy with the price cut and better resources.
