Check your apache configuration file and see if the mod_rewrite module is being loaded in or not.

Also if you are still having the trouble then let me know what the exact trouble is.

    Al
    It is reliability that counts...
    Few tips

    LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

Could you try rephrasing your question using proper grammatical syntax and correct spelling please?

It's kinda hard to tell what you're asking.

Your talking about mod_rewrite... but what's that have to do with reading a .htaccess file?

Or are you asking how to turn on mod_rewrite in a .htaccess file?
    RewriteEngine On

Or are you saying that your .htaccess files aren't being read?
(If so, that has probably nothing to do with mod_rewrite)

The default setting for RewriteEngine is off

You would need to specifically turn it on as I mentioned above.

    RewriteEngine on

But, mod_rewrite has nothing to do with your system not reading .htaccess files... so that's an entirely different problem.
