Did not some people already prepurchase for this back few months ago? Are you getting the money back?

Its better to wait than releasing it with tons of bugs.

Does it make any sense that this same thread occurs once a month? With exactly the same question and arguments?

The pre-paying clients received a matching offer from Jagpc for the inconvenience. So if you prepaid $150 Jagpc matched it for a total of $300 going to the purchase of Hostgui.

I can tell you that we were closely watching the progress of HostGUI, but now, we have decided to continue with CPanel and when (or if) HostGUI is released, we'll look at it then and decide if it's worth the switch. At the moment, we've had no problems with CPanel *touch wood*.

I've been a sharp critique of HostGui's launch date and the impact. However, I do think the project will launch and probably be rather nice. What's important to think about are the implications, if any, for future upgrades, support and such.

Clearly hostgui wants to come out strong, which after seeing cpanel is very understandable. On the other hand, hostgui will have to win back the trust of many hosts as every product has bugs and every product needs support. If hostgui can show a solid & strong application, I'll probably use it but it's clear that their launch wont be to the magnitude it could have been when the first started talking about a release.

    I know what its like

Hey, i would just like to say that i understand Jag and Hostgui completely and his delays. While writing SimpleCP we planned on a quick release around early july but we will probably delay it towards the end of the summer

The fact is anyone who has actually written or attempted to write a control panel knows that its a long process. Alot of places for bugs to show their ugly heads - for things not to work right - to make it work on every platform available and as simple to use and install.

There are many attempted control panels that i've seen most fail because they are not ready to go through with the whole thing - bugs support, - its no surprise that only big companies or those with a whole lot of free time or dedicated to control panel can accomplish such tasks...

as for the rest of us, HostGUI, SimpleCP and webCP are all being written "Part time" by people running web hosting companies - keeping customers happy, sales support while trying to develop a CP. It's not easy as Jag will probably back me up. While i hear jag has a development team soley for the CP i don't know the details but its' not easy. Especially when SimpleCP and webcp are free, if not aimed towards new, tight budgeted companies its hard to do this work and support and sales and everything...

in short, give hostgui a chance, if it's released its released if its not then its not. I have faith in jag and i 100% understand any delays - no matter how long - i've been there.

Just blabbering my $.02 (back me up here jag )

That's exactly the thought that went through my mind. If HostGUI is having this much trouble meeting deadlines it set for itself, what happens after it's released and it needs patching?

So much disappointment - I wont even think of purchasing when/if it comes out (not that I think that it ever will).
