Need server in USA, that's willing to ship HD (when filled up) to Netherlands...

Hey,

I've tried to transfer 450GB of data from my USA server to one in Netherlands. But taking far too slow as Europe limits USA connections.

So I'm looking for a provider or someone that has at least 100Mbits/s line, and a server I can rent for short period until my USA server data is transferred to it.

When done, I'd then like your server HD shipped to Netherlands.

Ofcourse I'll pay full price for HD also.

If you have available service, please let me know at earliest convenience.

-A

You might speak with WebNX or Gnax about this. I know they have both offered various purchase options for servers before which means either one of them might do this for you.

As this is not a normal thing you would probably want to communicate directly with the companies to make sure you find one willing to do this for you.

There is no such 'connection limit'. You are able to push the full 100Mbit to NL if you want. Just need to know some tricks if your per-connection-speed is low

Just make sure you have a decent connection in NL (100Mbit or ADSL2+ if its a home connection), use a multi threaded download tool, and you should be fine. It'd be far faster (and cheaper) than shipping an hdd.

Have you considered getting a server in the UK to transfer all the USA data to and then transfer the data from the UK to NL.
This maybe much quicker? What kind of speeds are you getting transfering the date from USA to NL ?

Does anyone else think there's something fishy about that scenario?

Kinda like "I'll have a suitcase at the airport and all you have to do is get it through customs for me.."

If you already have a server in the US why don't you ship that HDD out?

Defcon, it's called MY SERVER BEING OWNED BY SOFTLAYER which does not support shipping of HD.

Anyway here know of any USA based server providers that are willing to
ship the HD?

Or he could be 100% legit and just needs to transfer 450 gig of data from one point to another in the world...

Have a chat with www.serverpowered.com - i don't know if they'll do it, but Eric there has always been a great sport towards me

It's +-400GB now as cleaned up some hosting accounts.

Still looking for someone willing to allow us to rent a server. Once we transfer 400GB, we'd like it shipped to our rack in Netherlands.

Ofcourse will pay full for HD price + shipping and handling.

400 gigabyte == 419.430.400 kilobyte, yes?

From Denmark in northern Europe, good connection to do normal multi threaded download from the US normally doesnt go above 250 kb/s, but let's just for the fun of it say that you can use an entire T1, at 1.5 mb/s (thats the T1 connection speed in case you didn't know ), it would take:

621 hours, 22 mins, 42 seconds, according to this site: http://convertalot.com/downloadtime.html

That's what I mean.

I will take forever. That's why looking for someone with server in USA that's willing to let me rent it out. Transfer data from my USA server to their USA server (much faster at 80Mbps/s, rather then current of 4-5Mbps/s from my USA to Netherlands server).

Then when I transfer to their USA server, I have them ship me the HD to Netherlands.

So far noone. Obivously because this is a weird/strange/unusual request.

But hope someone reading this can help me out.
