What about the .us domains, I haven't heard much about them...

RackShack.us appears to be for sale

.us domains are moving fairly well with us. They continue to sell at a much higher rate than I thought they would.

I'd say go for it - as long as you pass the nexus requirements.

I'd advise you stick to Dot Coms - they really do get more trafic. .US is fine however if you have American related material.

I'm sure that *****.us is available to - unless someone is stupid enough to actually get it

.US is a very good extension

Strongly disagree. I believe .US is now the 2nd most valuable extension, and will increase in value as time goes by. One day US will likely start getting some valuable type-ins too, though not near as many as dot-com.

My extension ranking order is as follows - #-1 Com of course, 2 = US, 3 = Org, 4 = Net, 5 = Info, 6 = Biz, followed by all the other country codes trailing the field. Just my opinion but I believe it's accurate.

Right now I think it's more popular among people who know about it (techies) or those bought domains (me). The layperson needs to know about it. This will help when more sites come up in google and other engines. When your average run of the mill people start talking about it more then we'll know that we've reached the point where it's taking off. Definitely potential for growth and very easy to remember. Timing seems great with 911 too.

I wouldn't say that those two opinions add up to "strongly disagree." I'd probably still put .us at number four, but the point would be the same: for most "normal" business purposes if you can get an appropriate .com (and you almost certainly can), it's the way you should go.

I have a couple of .us names, but just for fun and personal use. I wouldn't use that TLD for business except for a site that has a strong USA theme or connection.

Personally, I like the .US domains. But I also liked the .info domains for the first month they were out, too. I have registered a few .US domains and one I can now see I won't be using... As for business purposes, I registered specializedpc.net first because .com was taken. Strangely enough, .com became available and I was able to grab it doing a random search earlier this year. I decided to get the .US today partly due to Dotster lowering their price on new registrations for the month of July and to protect the name.
