    Here's one way to avoid any doubt that a whois server is being monitored. Roll your own...

    I don't claim any copyright. Plagiarized from a post by Thomas White over at NamePros.

    filename: whois.php

    <form action=whois.php method=post>
    <br>
    Domain:
    <br>
    <input type=text name=domain>
    <br><br>
    <input type=submit name=submit value=Whois!>

    </form>

    <?php
    $domain = $_POST['domain'];
    $submit = $_POST['submit'];

    if ($domain) {
    if ($submit == 'Whois!') {

    echo nl2br(shell_exec("whois $domain"));

    }
    }
    ?>

    Never use whois.sc. They're monitored. Or any of the other tools at Domain Tools.

    Here are some names of other tasters...

    Kenyatech
    Grey Hare
    Domibot
    Wang Lee Domains
    Domain Doorman
    Unasi
    Belgium Domains

    any others?....
