Hiya, just started a new site an free image hosting website,
it launched on the 1st of jan this year and already this month its had 843 unique hits and its only the 12th is that good, average, poor?
not sure what kinda traffic i should be expecting in my first month lol

yeah i've advertised a little on myspace (not offically, just through bulletins)

This is a fine HIT.Try to advertise more ,try google adwords also.

adwords is a bit too expensive for my budget right now, waiting till i sell some advertising then going to pursue some more marketing schemes,

what I do need however is to get my page rank up anyone know where i'd be best off looking to get page links from? like a site designed specifically to exchange linkbacks

If you have a good web traffic analysis program like Google Analytics, you can see where the traffic has come from. Less than two weeks is a bit short for top Google rankings. So, the traffic is likely coming from other sources.

It is very important to keep a track of the traffic sources. It will give you ideas on how to adjust your marketing campaign.

I agree with gobeyond, Google Analytics should be the ideal stats program for your kind of website.

Btw, I think the best way to duplicate traffic is my adding a tiny bar below each image you hosted with "Hosted on Imagewhatever.com" , have you done it?
