    Any competitors of server4sale?

    Happy with S4S, but looking to see if I see any other company that offers competitive prices to them.

    Example:

    Package Intel P4 2.8 A (Hot Deal)
    * Intel P4 2.8 Ghz
    * 2 GB RAM
    * 80 GB Drive
    * 2000 GB BW
    * 100Mbit/s port
    Free Setup + $85 /month
    That's what I have with them right now. Don't need a control panel or management.

    I do see some close prices, even at the planet. Only thing is ram is always around 512mb. Anybody know of any places that have competitive prices / packages?

    S4S is probably the cheapest quality provider. I don't think you will find a P4 2.8 ghz with 2GB ram for the price you have now. Most you can find is probably a celeron, with 512mb-1gb ram.

    You're basically using LayeredTech as they resell for them. If you don't need management, might as well go with LT.

    Haven't required much support since I've been with them, but yes it was within the 30 minutes always.

    Like I said I'm happy with them just wanted to know what else was out there.

    Thanks for the feedback given and anything else

    I also know they resell for LT, but if you compare prices you get way more for $85 going through S4S then directly with LT. Same package directly from LT is $149 + setup fee

    Even when this thread reeks strongly of an undercover publicity operation, I will answer that there is competition from Servstra, who also resells for LayeredTech just like Server4Sale does:

    AMD-BARTON-3000
    Barton 3000
    2GB RAM
    120GB HD
    1500GB bandwidth
    10Mbps port
    FREE setup | $89.95 per month | Fully Managed

    The Athlon 3000 is better than the Pentium 4 2.8 GB, they have a special right now doubling RAM to 2GB, and the biggest advantage is that Servstra includes fully managed and a 10GB offsite backup for the same $89 price. Fully managed with Server 4Sale costs $45 extra.

    For just $5 more, you get a fully managed server at the same LayeredTech datacenter, a better processor, a hard disk that is 50% bigger and a 10GB offsite backup at the same datacenter.

    That's competition.

    Thanks for the link maxweb, on their site now getting more info. Will research up here also.

    I'm a skeptical person too, so if I read this I would prob think the same since I have so little posts. If want though check out my post history. My first post was good feedback about SLHost. Use to have a VPS with them, was happy. Never spoke on S4S other then this thread although this will only be my 5th post.

    No problem N3wY0rk,

    Here's the link to Servstra's offer here at WHT (I don't think this offer is in their website), it expires January 14th.

    Also, check out another LayeredTech reseller, dedicatedplace.com. They also offer fully managed servers included in the price, but their offers are currently not so competitive.

    Another idea is to rent the server directly from LayeredTech, and then get management with SeeksAdmin.com for $25 a month. I like separating the server reseller from the support provider, because otherwise the server vendor has too much power over your operation. Any stress over management of the server spills over the billing/server contract and the combination is explosive, usually in the face of the client.

    Two competitors spring to mind who also resell LayeredTech and these are...

    1. servstra.com
    2. dedicatedplace.com

    They may be slightly more expensive but they do offer full management.

    Cheers - Dav
    Gotta check out this superb site...

    Thanks for info. Looks like Servstra will be the most competive deal to S4S. I like to spread things out so when I need another box I'll prob test them out.

    Looks like ram deal expires on 15th. hopefull will have something going on when I need to buy

    I am wondering why Control Panel to be issue for Server Management, we have own ENSIM licence but not using that either because of its overheads.

    The issue probably is that there is a profit tied to selling the control panel, and also because the tech people may not be competent enough to offer support without a control panel and if you provide your own licence, they may not be familiar with your particular brand... like you have ENSIM and they don't offer that. They should be able to support your server if your license is for one of the control panels they offer.

    Server4Sale seems to offer the cheapest deals off LT at the moment, it's quite unbeatable.

    It's very tempting to try but I don't feel secure about paying such a low low price.

    I've had bad experiences with Servstra so I'm switching over to Server4sale. I'll update on how I like S4S.

    The Engine: You can email LayeredTech ,BurstNet , SoftLayer , GIGE ,Staminus asking if we have or had any overdues with any of the companies and paying them on time for past months.... Or Just simply ask the status.

    I don't like how Servstra seem to squeeze a buck out of you for every little thing... they charge $5 or $10 bucks more for each 'extra' or component than anybody else, so pretty soon the advantage of being 'managed' is diluted... better to get rock bottom price with someone else and then apply the savings to have seeksadmin manage the server for $25, which is a full $20 less than what server4sale charges for that.
