    Downtime Checking Service?

With recent issues with my last host. I have decided to cover my bottom and go find a service which I can pay who will monitor all my websites to see if they are down, also one that can provide me with how long they have been down if thats possible

can anyone recommend some of the top services which are affordable thanks

I've been playing with this one:
    http://mon.itor.us/

    But we mainly use Hyperspin.

Monitorus is free but hyperspin is definitely more accurate.

If you are looking for a cheap free solution i found

    http://host-tracker.com

to be good in the past, you can purchase sms alerts. they only check you server approx every 15 mins however. hyper spin will check it every minute i think. You get what you pay for i guess...

You could join a couple of free monitors and hope that at least one of them will notify you in a reasonable time frame of any downtimes. You can't go more affordable than that.

uppanel.com and mralert.com can also be on your list.

Oh, and make sure you use an email address that's not on the monitored server.

    Hi Inpursuit25,
I have had two experiences on a test server where hyperspin accurately reported a service interruption that monitorus missed. In all other tests they worked equally well. Anecdotal information at best, take it for what its worth.

This is a good (free) check. You can check even at 5 minute (or 1 minute) intervals. You pay only for the SMS message they send if your host goes down!

    Good luck!

We had used a couple monitoring services, but none really proved to be as reliable as we'd like. We now use several devices in different regions of the continent running Nagios, which is far more feature-filled and accurate.

Of course, I don't think this sounds like it's in your budget so... one of options we got best results from was http://host-tracker.com/. A free one is http://www.serviceuptime.com/.

Care to elaborate more on what the interruption that Hyperspin reported that monitorus missed actually was? (i.e. ping fail, HTTP down, other service down?).

Edit: it seems that monitorus has it's site hosted at Server4You (according to Netcraft).

I have been using the paid version of uppanel for some time now and would highly recommend them. Uppanel has both a free service and a paid service.

Hyperspin gets my vote as well.

For a paid service, they are the least expensive and are extremely reliable and support is top notch.
