Intruder trying to steal guns, jewelry gets a beating

A Red Bird-area homeowner turned the tables on a gun-toting burglar Wednesday night, taking the weapon away from him and beating him up with it.

The suspect, identified by police as 21-year-old Marquis D. Anderson, ended up in a local hospital.

"When the police got him, he wasn't able to talk," said Steven Flowers, a neighbor whose home was also burglarized. "He got beat bad. I wish it had been me [who delivered the beating]. I would have done the same thing."

Mr. Flowers, who lives on Greenspan Avenue near Interstate 35E and Camp Wisdom Road, arrived home shortly after 6 p.m. to find that his home had been burglarized. The burglar had kicked in a rear door and stolen jewelry and a handgun.

"I noticed the lights on in my house," said Mr. Flowers, who has lived there about eight years. "I could see a silhouette, peeking out of the window of my den. I left and called 911."

Police records show that the suspect fled that home and broke into a neighboring home in the 7600 block of Woodspan Drive. That homeowner, Prentice McKinney, arrived home to find his front bedroom light on, his front window busted out and a man looking out the window at him, records state.

Wow, i'm sure he felt pretty good thinking he could break into a few homes, but I bet this experience will keep him from ever breaking into a home ever again. I'm hoping the state of Texas will lock him up for a few decades. We certainly don't need trash like this breaking into our homes and stealing our valuables.

Kerry loves to post his news..

I don't know about keeping him from doing it again but at least he will be put in jail for at least a little while over what he did.

Have to agree, he deserved the beating! At least in the UK, there is far too much law in place to protect the intruder than the victim.

Give the burglar a few days... He'll be suing the piss out of his attacker and will likely win.

If that was the uk, it would be the owner of the house in police custody

Isn't it terrible. The world is losing it's mind. Here's a link to a story where a burglar who was shot is suing the homeowner who shot him.

Except that wont happen here as the laws dont allow you to profit from anything resulting from your involvement in a crime. He was outside the law when he got that old fashioned Texas butt whoopin. Therefore, a lawsuit would get nowhere.

Thank god I live in Florida, that's why I would make sure the intruders dead, though i'd probably have to deal with their family in court.

Yeah, that new law is pretty neat here in Florida. Especially for gun owners like myself.
