    Dedicated IP

I recently purchased a reseller account through resellergeeks.com And am interested in a dedicated IP through them for a few extra $ a month. What are the benefits or costs to doing so?

dedicated IP addresses are basically for SSL certificates. Do you have one of these?

Basically, your host should have shared nameserver IP's so you may not need it to have your own private nameservers. Other than that you will not need one.

Dedicated IP is also beneficial if someone on the "shared IP" decides to blacklist the range. As some countries dont accept porn so those IPs are usually blacklisted.

It's also good to get off of the shared IP because sometimes their are spammers and they get the main IP blacklisted, which could happen at a core time for your email. Dedicated IP would stop all of this from happening to you.

So, for 3$ a month, would you recommend it?

    Hi,

If the SMTP IP gets blacklisted it wouldnt matter if your on shared or dedicated as exim will send all outbound emails on ONE IP.

As for the recommendation we have presented the advantages of having a "Dedicated" vs "Shared"

It is up to you to decide if the $3.00USD is worth it

It's not worth it. Unless you need it for SSL

Also note that you are usually subject to some kind of justification (for example ARIN justification) for dedicated IPs in order to comply.

It is worth it. Your shared IP you have might be on a black list and that looks bad on you.

    Hi,

End users do not have to worry of Arin justification. In a hosting environment you have a domain its already automatic you are in compliance of arin. Simply hosts will charge you for it.

I believe it's pretty important that you have your own dedicated IP address to avoid blacklisting.

Well, as far as spam listing goes - it really makes no difference as e-mail is sent out on the servers primary IP address.
