    High-bandwidth server?

    Hi,

I currently host a community-funded Shoutcast video stream, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a semi-cheap dedicated host with some generous bandwidth allowance.

I'm not really looking for unmetered, but something that allows around 3,500-4,000GB and is 100mbps burstable would be great. Hardware also isn't that big of a deal because all the box is used for is an IRC and Shoutcast server.

Also, if possible, we'd like to avoid FDC.

    Thanks.

well that would be $370 / month, no setup, with Softlayer
    https://www.softlayer.com/order_form...=2&ITEM_PRICES[disk_system]=7&ITEM_PRICES[server]=161

HOWEVER, there is no IRC allowed [at the moment anyways]

One thing that is going to limit you a whole lot is your use of IRC.

I suggest you look in the dedicated server offers forum, because there are some IRC allowed providers there.

You'd be looking at Unmetered most likely. If you want 100mbit burstable, that'll cost quite a bit. You could get 20mbit unmetered from Gnax for around $239/mo though.

I would take a look at www.nocster.com they offer wonderful unmetered hosting. I am not sure if IRC is allowed on the network right now.

Check out awknet.com - you get unmetered bw & irc allowed. It's a really nice network.

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I was considering awknet, but it appears they've been out of stock for awhile now.

If it's absolutely necessary, I can move the IRCd to a ThePlanet server, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.

I believe they are getting new stock today, you might give their sales department an email (sales@awknet.com)
