I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my configuration or something like that. I transfer large files from my laptop to my desktop computer. Hooking these two up is a Linksys WRT54G running dd-wrt.
I've tried sending with wireless.. 1MB/s
When I plugin an ethernet cable, it speeds up to usually 3MB/s to 4MB/s
Can it not do any faster? Both cards are set to 100/full duplex. It may just be the router, since I am running custom firmware, but load is ~0.1 when I transfer these files. With normal internet/torrent usage, its 0.00.
Looking forward to hearing a response.
Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, could it be the hard drives?
Well for starters I you may notice that there have been many problems with Linksys routers on this forum, ethernet cable is know to be the faster out of firmware / USB for data transfer. Be sure to check that you have a full signal when using your wireless connection,
Sorry I am not to much of an expert with this sort of topic.
