    ping yahoo unknown host

    Hi,

I am trying to ping to yahoo from our server and it comes as unknown host. I checked the resolver and everything seems to be fine. I believe some thing wrong with named.conf file. Anyone has any idea?

can you ping other hosts? If not, it may be your firewall. Otherwise, you may wish to try pinging one of their ips 216.109.112.135

    Double-check /etc/resolv.conf as well.

Is your server located in Asia? There is problem with some ISP due to it's current network issue.

    check /etc/resolv.conf
make sure your dns servers are running
make sure you've allowed yourself access to those dns servers.
If you've "locked" the dns servers (ie: to prevent spoofing), make sure that you've allowed your resolvers access to those.
