How do you advertise your site?

I haven't gotten that far yet (hope to be there in the next few weeks), but I thought I'd get a heads up on what exactly I should be doing. I've seen an ad that if you sign up with google checkout you get $50 credit for that.

    What works and what doesn't?

Well. Depends on what type of sites.

Mostly my sites are entertainment based. I add good stuff to it, it advertises itself.

Other sites I would say use Google Adwords instead.

    Peace,

We get a good deal of mileage out of the advertisement we run in our regional Chamber of Commerce business directory. We sponsor a few local events within our respective communities as well.

Other than that, a little public relations goes a long way, and we get respectable search engine traffic as well.

There are many ways to advertise. Such ways are :

    1- backlinks
    1- paid banners
    3- search engines
    4- signatures.

    Many others
