IIs cannot access parent direcoty (../)
I am running Windows 2003 server but I've just encountered a problem that I cannot include parent directory (../) in ASP files.
I think the access to ../ is disabled but I don't know how to enable it.
Could someone please guide me how to enable the access the parent directory?
Thanks and regards,
You have to enable the 'parent path' setting in IIS.
Computer management -> Web Site properties -> Home Directory -> Configuration -> Options -> "Enable parent paths".
%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\cscript.exe C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AspEnableParentPaths TRUE
Thanks heaps. It works.
Though this is required by most of the scripts, it is not advisable to allow this. This opens up a door for directory attacks using Flie and Scripting Object. Best is to guide the developer of the web site to use Server.MapPath.
