    copying folder

I copied an entire folder recursively to another folder however, it doesn't copy filenames beginning with a dot. how can I make sure it copys all contents of one folder to another?

    cp -p -r /path/to/folderA/* /pathto/folderB/

According to the man page you are using the correct flags. It may just be your syntax.

    Try:

    cp -Rp source destination

    without the /* part.

[[email protected]] ~ $ cat .signature
cat: .signature: No such file or directory
