    New website :: ForgetURL.com

    Hi All,

    I have just setup a url shortening website. Let me know what you think of the website. It is kind of plain now, I will add more information to the website as time goes by.

    I like to hear feedback about the site.

    Thanks in advance.

    I like the layout, just 1 comment really.. its a website to stop you forgetting urls but when you enter one to get it shortened the shortened url is 6 random chars.. which people are gonna have to remember? maybe you could impliment something that lets you choose the url name..

    Well, thanks for the feedback. I am working on something that it will email you the link after conversion or either a member area that keep track of all the links.

    It's annoying and unnecessary having to enter the confirmation code, and the premise has already been done a while ago by http://tinyurl.com.

    I can see how this kind of server would be useful to people, however, I don't like how it gives you a random url which is probably just as hard to remember.

    Perhaps it would be easier to have just numbers at the end? Just a thought.

    I have an idea for you. If someone wants to generate a simpler URL for:

    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?p=4278455

    ...and it's the 4th URL registered from webhostingtalk.com, your site can generate the equivalent URL:

    http://forgeturl.com/www.webhostingtalk.com/4

    You can make that work with mod_rewrite.

    Thanks for the idea. I will include this into my future planning of this site. I will be adding a few more feature when I have more time later.
