Will this do for an imagehost?
# Cel 1.8 Ghz
# 512 GB Ram
# 80 GB
# 100mbps port - 1.5TB transfer
Will that do for hosting images for an imagehost?
You may need more bandwith once you become established.
Hi, yeah i realise that but will the processor and memory be enough, especially if the only thing running on the server is light http?
If you are using a php script to upload files, the load may be a little high.
I would try to start out with atleast a 2.4ghz and 1gb ram.
I don't think an photobucket (also an imagehost) would run fine on such hardware
It really depends on the scale... once you have some momentum, build an infrastructure (cluster) that's easy to expand.
If you are small time image host, you will be fine.
Otherwise, that configuration will be overloaded and unreachable as hot-linking increases and your bandwidth (1.5TB) will be wasted in a single day.
It all depends on amount of visitors and nasty hot-linking you receive.
