    A professional domain name question???

    Hi all.

Say if I were to have a professional domain name for a singer (such as mariahcarey.com). As she is an international singer and the domain name should probably be appropriate for an official site, would I have to give that name up for free?

If not, would I probably receive offers to buy it from me?

    TIA - Dav

I think it depends if you registered it BEFORE they copyrighted the name. If you did then they'll have to pay up, big time.

P.S. Don't make it sound hypothetical.

They can go for you despite you registering before. i believe madonna won madonna.com, which is generic in and of itself. If its profitable I would get a good lawyer John Berryhill (johnberryhill.com), Ari Goldberger (esqwire.com).
