KnownHost .:. 3 Month Review
Okay, I first want to point out that the only reason I went with known host was because I found a pretty awesome deal on WHT for them, and went with it. First month 50% off, amazing!
Anyways, I wasn't expecting too much from them, and my first little surprise was when I was talking to a sales agent and asked them for their EIN. See, when a company states that they are an LLC, or an INC, I always hold them to it. So I asked the them for their EIN. I was expecting them to give me some BS about not being able to give that information out, or that it was on file and could be sent to me in 3-4 years if I needed. Instead, I was given it right away, with in seconds. Go ahead, go to their live chat and ask for it. Look it up, they area legally licensed business. That just has a way of making you feel SOOO much more comfortable.
Over the past 3 months, I have not only kept the initial plan that I had, but I have since then bought two more VPS's from them. One has cPanel, one has Plesk, and the other is simply for DNS and other small files.
I must also mention the bandwidth. Now, I'm one of those people who understands the feeling of glee that you get when you see a plan that says:
"WE ROXXOR YOUR SOXXORS!"
"1 BAJILLION GB OF BANDWIDTH"
"10 BAJILLION GB OF DISK SPACE"
"ONLY COSTS ONE REAL US DOLLARS!!!"
Yeah, I know, it's an awesome feeling. Here's the catch. Even if that "provider" can give you that much space/data transfer, I can guarantee you it won't be good bandwidth, and it most certainly will be oversold.
Seeing as how I know, that I don't REALLY need 2000GB of transfer a month (although I'd love to be able to say I could! ) I have found that KnownHost's bandwidth offerings are actually pretty decent. On my Texas based systems, I get 250GB, which honestly could be more and is probably my only concern with KnownHost. Even though I'd like the bandwidth on the texas options to rival the California options (500GB for same plan if it's in Cali instead of Texas), the speed in the Texas DC is absolutely AMAZING! I can't say anything more about it than that. A M A Z I N G. I have only seen one other host provide faster speeds, and that's SoftLayer.
Well, I'm almost done with this review, except there is one thing I don't think I've touched on. Service. If you want to be able to get ahold of a REAL person, day or night. Don't go to "LEETHAXOR HOSTING, LLC, INC" because I can guarantee you they won't have jack for you. KnownHost does. Always, and they are always willing to help.
To sum this all up, I will be staying with KnownHost, for the impecible support, service and hospitality. Also, the prices aren't that bad either!!
Oh yeah, the main reason I started this thread?
I checked my mail today. First christmas card of the year:
Known Host.
Handwritten.

I thought the card was a nice gesture from Knowhost too. Lets see if it repeats next year when they have more customers. They might need to hire new help for the card division..LOL
Very nice review of Knownhost and I could not agree more..

I got a card as well. Completely unexpected, but appreciated.
Just one more reason that I'm completely satisfied with KnownHost up to this point.

I ordered my VPS a week or so ago and am still waiting for my eCheck to clear through paypal. Dispite not being an actual customer yet I have been contacted not once but twice by their sales team to see if everything is going alright. They gave me a few other options to get around the waiting period of the eCheck, as well as today I was contacted to make sure I still wanted the VPS.
They seem like a very caring company who wants the best for everyone. I can't wait till I get my VPS and to continue doing business with them for a long time to come.

Two VPS's with Knownhost for about the last 7-8 months and I have been 'Knownhosted'!
They are exceptional people and the service is the best ever!
Great hardware, excellent bandwidth and they are just awesome people to deal with.
I have one VPS in Texas and the other in Cali. and not once ounce of a problem with either since they moved 'ol lemon off the network in TX.
Cheers!

I just paid my bill a couple of days ago and noticed I've been with them for 9 Months. Definitely happier than I was with my last host.
Can I ask why some of you have more than one VPS? For the original poster, why 3? Any benefits?
I just wish they did a semi-dedicated or dedicated solution, then I'd be in heaven!

VPS1 - Plesk 1 (static sites) and Plesk Expand
VPS2 - Plesk 2 (dynamic sites)
VPS3 - MySQL-only
VPS4 - Mail-only
This can scale from 4 small VPS's to 4 high-end dedicated servers with zero downtime, giving the customer lots of room to grow without disrupting service to existing customers (such as moving mail away later, which will require DNS re-propagation).
By running mysql and mail on separate VPS's it's easier to identify the cause of problems. For example, if mysql VPS has problems mysql is causing it, not apache or Plesk. It also offers increased security as VPS3 doesn't need to be web-accessible and can be firewalled so it can only be accessed from VPS2 (since vps1's static sites won't need mysql).
Also, while I know this is a little different, internally we have a bunch of development VPS's on each OS so we can run customise a development environment heavily without causing problems next time someone builds something on another VPS. We have customers doing stuff like this (but typically they have different OS's such as RHAS3, CentOS4 and FC).Andrew Cranson, Director of Operations

Well, I've been researching over the past 2 weeks to move to either a dedicated server or VPS server. I don't really NEED dedi, I just want one.
With the companies I contacted over the holidays I was left with msg afte msg being left, with no return emails, useless chat sessions........but then I came in this forum and read about knownhost - reveiws. So I go check them out.......
Love the prices for a VPS. Its' what I pay now for a RS. with HostGator. Now, I am only moving because HG doesn't provide a VPS option or an "entry"option with Dedi, but they are a great company with terrific support. I was really beginning to feel there just isn't that type of support anywhere else.
I opened a chat with Knownhost, and immediatley was greated by a tech, who not ONLY talked to "me" the whole time, but answered my questions immediatley, with lots of enthusiasm . "That" is what I was looking for. Heck I'd pay more for that type of support and service all the time.
I am going to give KnownHost a try. I got that "go for it" feeling.
So, I'm going with the VPSXL. 20 GB space, and 250 GB BW. Its all I need right now.
Texas option, only because of what the first poster said. Texas is fast ........well, I can handle fast and forfit the extra BW.!
I'll bb to review again.
