    100mbit connection. What speed is it

    Hey. I really stupid when asking this but what does i mean by i have a 100mbit connection. Does it mean that the server uploads and downloads at 100megs a second

    Depends on flat or full duplex...flat would be 100Mbit in+out and full would be 100Mbit in and 100Mbit out.

    Why do they call it a 100mbit connection then if it only downloads at about 12 megs/second. For some reason i thought it would download/upload at about 100megs hence 100mbit.

    100Mbps =100,000,000bitsper second or 12,500,000 bytes per second theoretical

    8 bits in a byte. LOL

    So yeah a 100Mbps connection is pleanty, though watch out, just because they give you the connection doesnt mean they wont charge you much, much, more if you sustain speeds at 100Mpbs for long periods of time. Contact to determine what your average limit is.
