I have a couple Dell 1550's which are great little web servers. The rails with them fit well in square peg racks and make it easy to install and remove a server if needed. I need to transfer some servers to rack with pre-tapped holes and the square peg rails won't work.
Anyone know the model rails for a 1550 that will work in a pre-tapped hole rack? I seem to only find ones for 1650 and up on eBay. Hopefully these servers are not too old.
The Dell 1550 has a proprietary setup for fitting onto the rail. It slides onto the rail over a stub in the rail. I don't think their are any holes in the server to mount generic rails too. But I'll look again.
I may end up doing that. All the versa rails for 1U that I can find only say 1650, 1750, etc. Though they physically look similar to the current rapid rails I have. Just with holes for threaded racks instead of square notches.
