    Dedicated server, cheap as chips

    Hello,

I would like to know if anybody can suggest me the most cheap provider in the world. I need just 2 things, cheap and stable. With stable I mean a provider who have their own techs, and space/datacenter. Im looking for something with low processor 2GHz or less (1GHz or less :d).

I've seen some in the forum, but would like to hear direct suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Antonio

Cheap and Stable generally aren't things that go together, things are cheap for a reason.

    Hello,

the lowest possible, im not sure how much the lowest can be currently.

With stable, I mean an established company, ill prefer directly a company better from a reseller, without management.

    Thanks,

If you don't need management. Go with Layered Tech.

    CEngine,

Im already a happy client of LT, but need something external and cheap, just for testings or backups. Ive found now a company that offers cheap servers, around 20$, but would like to hear for more suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Antonio

'cheap' and 'stable' are mutually exclusive - you cannot find both.

Can you share the company you found that offers dedicated servers for 20$ a month? I cannot believe that there exists such a company.

You're brave. I tend not to ask that question, as then I'll know what name to look for 3 weeks from now saying:

"(Fill in the blank here) SUCKS!"

    The company is vectoral.info.

Well, then cheap, I dont need really stability, just a real company.

    Thanks,

Yup! Because when I think real and legal, I look for a .info

Netdirekt.de has a PIII 733Mhz for around $23 and a P4 for around $35. The network is great for the prices, and the server is stable. I can't really say much about support, I only used it once at night (to order an extra IP address), and it was answered the next morning.

Kimsufi.com has a Celeron 2Ghz with 256 mb ram for about $26 a month. You get 100Mbit/s, and I've been able to use that full 100Mbits. If you use too much bandwidth, you get capped at around 25 Mbits. Support sucks, but for that price, its a great server for high bandwidth things (like shoutcast).

Oh, and Netdirekt allows IRC, Kimsufi doesn't (just incase you needed it).

EDIT: A minute after I posted this, I looked at vectoral.info. Guess what? Resellers of Netdirekt.

WOW, I laugh at some people critisicing companies due to such stupid things, whats wrong with .info? If you actually bothered to try you would see they also own com, net, org and co.uk. I am a very happy Vectoral customer and affiliate and no TarballX, they are not a reseller - they operate within the Avaya Databurg over netd.de - if you do a whois on their own IP ranges you can see that.

I really dont care about the domain if it is .com, .net, .info or .tk. I just want a company that offer a good dedicated server. im sure I will not need the support too much, maybe a 'low priority' questions, like how much bandwidth, how to swap OS, etc..)

Im finally ordering a server with kimsufi (ovh).

Thanks to everyone who posted and suggested a provider,

    Antonio
