For a server that has dual woodcrest and raid 10 15K SAS drives. Which would the resources be best used to put 4 live stores.
1 Using either vmware or openvz on the server and giving each store their own vps area.
2 Or just put the 4 stores on the one harddrive and share resources as needed.
Need an opinion of what would give the best performance.
Generally, Web stores aren't CPU intensive, but may have to deal with things like VISA's security protocols. Therefore, I'd go with a per-store solution to give separation, even though you'll have to duplicate things like database and Web server processes to do it right.
Thanks for you reply. We have been tossing the idea around which way to go since we saw a server setup with vmware. It seemed like a perfect solution to keep everything seperate without the expence of extra servers.
