Searching a better dedicated server for my friend.

Well, my friend have a site which have 3000++ unique hits every month, although not too high but better than mine. I am a member of his site too, as he provide free hosting.

Unfortunately, he told me that he pay for US 299.95 per month, so I am thinking that he pay too much for the site.. ( too much for me, maybe )

So anyone know that some good company that provide same configuration/system but cheaper price or better conf in same price. Either :

He is using Dedicated Premium :

For $299/mo you can get a better server with managed service than that.you may go with managed server such as allmanaged.com,or go with EV1(ev1servers.net)/SL(softlayer.com) then purchase managed service somewhere else.

BTW:Just a low end server can handle the site with 3000++ unique hits every month.

Do you knwo what is providing free host service, well.. thanks for those link. I will try to find a better one and ask him to switch.

Off-topic, if his site has already took up 52G of space, is it hard to move?

If both servers are 100mbit you can set up an fxp/ftp transfer between them and 52 gigs will take a couple or more hours..

    That's just a guess I didn't calculate..

If you have control panel like cPanel,it is very easy. or you can use FTP/rsync

Well, any amount of space is not hard to move, it completely depends upon new hosting companies and how they handle it. If in process, you have some losses of data, the hosting company can provide you with the backup services also.

Cpanel won't move 52 GB of files I'm afraid. Best way to do it is using rsync.

Why don't you just tell him to stay with the company he's at and downgrade. Sounds like he's already getting 100% managed service.

Not sure if I agree with EV1 having the best network. I'd try Steadfast as well or even SoftLayer and get a server management firm to manage it.
