Being that you are in Rome and rather close proximity to a major market (Atlanta)

Have you thought of looking local? You could probably get a server with Gnax / NetDepot or even colo your own if you wish.

We're in Canton, you aren't all that much further north from us, I'd highly recomend GNAX as we have a cage within their AtlantaNAP facility.

I'm not caring about local(myself), I'm caring about clients and everyone else in the world.

Softlayer, all new servers we get are being setup there. Nice new servers, nice configs, good prices, great network ( 1 problem, but small, fixed in 30 mins ), very nice support and sales.

We are pulling all our servers from Ev1, Sagonet (horrible), liquidweb to place at Softlayer.

Well, GNAX has a very strong network and great staff, (I know I'm there all the time and know them personally), also the local aspect of it allows you to easily grow your business from a single leased system up to a large scale colo operation with on-site offices, etc. You won't find that level of "partnership" in may other places.

I'm very happy with my two servers at SoftLayer. I haven't used HiVelocity, so I can't speak to that, but SoftLayer get my vote.

As for the topic at hand I like SoftLayer myself since they have the latest great hardware opposed to old xeons and all that. They of course have old stuff but they also got the quad core cpu's the fast scsi drives and all that.

To the OP: Many of my clients have servers at softlayer and I myself have most of mine at softlayer and in my opinion they are the best data center out their today. Some people complain about their network but to be honest I do not really see any problems with it. Their service is great, the only complain I have ever had against them was I asked for a RAM upgrade for a monday and they did it on a saturday instead, but that was sorted and dealt with fine and as the downtime was so small I didnt mind too much
