    Server optimisation

    I read the thread: http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=340239

    I opened the file: /etc/my.cnf

    I then went to edit the variables shown

    E.G.
    query_cache_limit=8M
    query_cache_size=256M
    query_cache_type=1
    max_connections=500
    max_user_connections=10
    interactive_timeout=20
    wait_timeout=20

    HOWEVER, the file does NOT have these variables, so what would the server have as values with them or will it just be unlimited or something?

    Also, what other methods could I use to optimise the server for speed?

    Thanks

    The server would just have the default mysql values in that case, if you wish to overwrite the server with the values you posted, then just add them to the appropiate place in the file
